I am still trying to teach my son part of the list. I realized that parenthood, which is the same as student-hood and saint-hood is a lifelong process.

  1. Personality goes a long way.
  2. Walk on the outside (closer to the street) of your female companion.
  3. Cooking, cleaning, laundry and taking care of kids are things men can actually do as well as women.
  4. Women like compliments and gifts. It helps in ANY relationship.
  5. Earning less than her shouldn’t be emasculating.
  6. Keep backup supplies of quality chocolate [or stuff she likes] in the house when she’s feeling down.
  7. Be on time, even if she usually isn’t.
  8. Your legs really don’t need to be open that wide.
  9. Smiling and nodding aren’t the same as listening.
  10. It’s OK to cry in front of her, but keep the blubbering to a minimum.
  11. Pick your battles in life.
  12. At some point she’ll be more important than your mother. [and at some point, this is what I have to accept myself]
  13. You will never completely understand women. Men and women are different. Its not a big deal. That’s just how it is.
  14. Just because you can’t FIND the item in question doesn’t mean she moved it.
  15. Respect people. And ALL women are people too.
