Pat was one of the artists I worked with under Animasia, an animation house back in the 90s. He was among the second batch of animators from Philippine Women’s University that was trained and hired. He owned a beetle [the old Volkswagen] back then. He’s the kind of artist that always brought sunshine into group whatever the situation was. Armed with a ready smile and an anecdote for the day, he never fails to make people laugh.

He loves acting too. Acting out his jokes that is. Why he didn’t join theater was beyond me.

One of his trademark ‘stare’ was the crazy look. Perhaps he got it from Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs – I don’t know. The effect has always been the same. Chilling.

So when I saw it again in one of his profile selfies, I decided to do a quick sketch and exaggerate it a bit. I still think the original’s scarier.
